You are sitting at your IKEA desk at work, rolling a pencil back and forth over your knuckles in abject boredom. Suddenly, your best friend bursts into your office, panting with excitement. You stop twirling your pencil and sit up, eager to hear the news. Apparently, he says, the souls of all artists have been ripped violently from their bodies. The DeviantArt #HolidayCardProject is back for its 9th year! With the goal of bringing a bit of holiday cheer to patients in the hospital during the holiday season, the Holiday Card Project connects artists from around the world, applying their tremendous artistic abilities to designing and creating uplifting holiday cards. In the past few years, this project has received more than 5,000 cards sent in by more than 2,000 deviants from 60 different countries/political regions. Cards are then divvied up and distributed by DeviantArt members to local Los Angeles hospitals, with additional cards given to various hospitals in the U.S. and abroad

A former astronomy postgrad with a fondness for escapism.

Until I joined dA in 2010, I hadn't really drew anything since I was in school many, many years ago, other than naff and hurried doodles in lectures. I used to do image manipulation in GIMP too, did that every now and then prior to joining here. Ultimately though, I think I just like to make things...

Nowadays, when I get a chance between work/study and friends, I like to draw and paint. I find it to be massively relaxing, even when difficult, and a nice way to escape from the daily grind. I've done a mix of fanart, original stuff and some observational stuff. The latter of that is mostly because of an evening art class I've enrolled upon. I also take the odd photo...
